A hundred years after Einstein's »Theory of Relativity«, the use of his scientific knowledge is still not being put into practice. Whatever motivates physicists to experimental ideas should inspire in particular designers to fresh creativity. Then the photographic images of events can make time visible as fourth dimension.

It looks like a photo, but it's still a movie; just a still movie.

Movement, changes and speed are themes which should not be reserved for films only. Between the »movie«, which is well known for its inexhaustible variations of moving pictures, extensively publicised in the press, and the classical photograph which captures a moment in time, there is a fascinating area of conflict – the world of stillMovie.

The exploration of that »terra incognito« and the search for rules in this experimental field of photo-technical imaging are issues described in the following work. Analogue and digital photography is used to find the essence of action. Cinematic and reportage-like scenes will be modified to show the main object, at a glance, without distracting the observer with other irrelevant images.

When a four-dimensional event is shown on a single frame which means a two-dimensional view, this scene represents a sublimate of reality. The dimension of time will be faded out and is integrated in the graphical representation.
